fountain finding

a couple of weekends ago, we [francis, diti, me] went out looking for old drinking water fountains
in bandra, dadar and lower parel. these fountains [now mostly defunct] were constructed by the
british to provide free drinking water to the common folk.

some sweet, some angry animals and pretty flowers are sculptured in typical british style.
cobwebs, paan stains and random plastic ugliness adorn the fountains in standard mumbai style.


1. st andrews church, bandra
non functional but the structure has been maintained.
the only one out of the four that i had noticed prior.





2. ganpatrao kadam marg, lower parel
this one is one of the few fountains that are actually still functional and used exhaustively.
its currently and temporarily being covered by this ugly syntex tank.





3. near the itc grand maratha, lower parel
its crazy the amount of hidden loveliness we have in the city. its regularly passed by and
standardly treated as just another section of the wall.





4. dadar plaza
o the prettiest of the four we all agreed.
