midnight snack

August 29th, 2010

I was born into money,
And sold down the river.
I was choked by the jailer
And fucked the gorilla.
I ran through the country ahead of my time.
I escaped through a keyhole before they erased me
I married the beetle and learned to be graceful
It’s why all this warfare pours out of my eyes.

The squirrel monkey named Gordo survived a 300-mile journey into space
and then travelled more than 1,500 miles in the rocket
until it dropped in the South Atlantic.

A technical problem with the recovery gear meant a parachute failed to open
and the nose-cone sank taking Gordo with it.
The US Army abandoned the search after six hours.

days like today.

August 27th, 2010

the sun is not yet up. david bowie sits uncomfortably, looking east. the sun is not yet up.
beside him, his cat stirs and yawns. the sky is dark blue. they both know what’s going to come next.
but today, it doesn’t.

he begins to write a new melody. right there, on the couch.
it will be the 12th and final of his new album.
he will hide it on the album listing, hoping that it will only be heard on days like these.

more fountains!

August 5th, 2010

we came across some new [old] drinking water fountains. read about our previous encounters here

05 horniman circle, fountain!
i loved the strange random interesting folk chilling around this fountain. eventhough not active, there are newer tanks around that store and give water to the thirsty. perfect place to relax on a breezy sunday morning.

06. jijamata udyaan, byculla
another sweet intricate inactive water fountain. you cans see the newer uglier active one in the background [also the ephephant!].

accident!

June 30th, 2010

last year in auroville, we must have seen three cars in the entire month. but this year, it seemed that the four wheelers were making a comeback; even here. mostly taxis and weekend tourists but still it ruined the entire cycling experience. so the day i accidentally came across this awesome installation, my cycle bell gave out a loud menacing bear growl…

all the car’s surfaces are open for anyone to paint and so aside from being a strong statement, its a great interactive, ever-changing exhibit.
